On Wednesday, October 18 at 6:30pm Central District Superintendent Rev. Jim Bushfield will conduct a charge conference to consider a resolution from the Board of Directors of North for the redevelopment of a portion of our land that we own along Illinois Street between 38th & 39th Streets. Click here to read the resolution (The resolution refers to Exhibit A, which will be legal description of the land to be sold. This will be available soon.).
In response to the economic and social challenges in the surrounding neighborhood, North Church and Flaherty and Collins, a local developer, will develop multi-story buildings along Illinois, 38th and 39th Streets which will include:
- 1st floor businesses, including a neighborhood-size grocery store.
- above floors will be 74 residential rental units, 58 of which will be affordable for young, low-income families.
Our missional goal is to address the food desert in the community and break the cycle of multigenerational poverty for residents. This proposal is the culmination of 7 years of research and discernment.
Information on this project is on the North Church website, enewsletter & at the front desk. Click here for the updated overview of the project, history and images and click here for the FAQ. Pictures are on display in the West Entry.
