| Jim describes his work at North as a “ministry
of administration.” His efforts, coupled
with those of the support staff, provide the tools
– the building space, the equipment, and
the finances – that the pastoral and program
staff must have to carry out their ministries.
He is responsible for the efficient and effective
operation of church administration, including
finances and the facility itself. He coordinates
and manages the ongoing operations of the church
and the office staff that handles the daily business
of the church.
Jim has been working in this role with North
since December 2004. He is an ordained minister
in the Church of God. He was Minister of Worship
Arts and Administration at Church of the Crossing
in Indianapolis from 1976 to 1989. He was Minister
of Business Administration and Gift Planning at
Park Place Church of God in Anderson from 1992
to 1995, when he became executive secretary-treasurer
and chief executive officer of the Church of God’s
National Broadcasting Agency. He most recently served Church of God Ministries, Inc., as director of central services and operations, from which he retired in June
2004.
He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Anderson
University and master’s degrees from Christian
Theological Seminary and Butler University. He
was certified as a Fellow in Church Business Administration
after completing courses at Candler School of
Theology at Emory University.
Jim and his wife, Rita, live in Greenwood. They
have one son, Kurt, who is an orthopedic surgeon. Rita is a retired music teacher from Amy Beverland
Elementary School in Lawrence Township.
