As a large metropolitan church located at a diverse intersection in urban Indianapolis, we strive to be a place where a broad variety of spiritual journeys meet. We are searching for a full-time minister of mission and outreach with dreams and vision for growing and developing an already dynamic program.
This person will serve the church by developing and coordinating an effective and comprehensive ministry of Mission and Outreach (fulfilling the needs of both the local and global communities), and provide leadership and supervision of staff members, lay leaders, and volunteers involved in this ministry area.
This person has recognized potential and demonstrated experience of faithful Christian discipleship as well as strong, congregational leadership skills. Passion for and previous accomplishment in church-related mission and outreach ministry preferred. United Methodist ordination and M.Div. preferred but not required.
The ideal candidate will be theologically articulate in interpreting the role of Mission and Outreach to the congregation and larger community. The candidate must be a committed self-starter, finding ways to continually define and refine the role North Church plays in the ministry area of Mission and Outreach. Further preference will be applied to the candidate who is motivated by an intelligent, compassionate, and trusting work environment.
‘Street smarts’ is a must for this role, as well as being both a leader and follower. A healthy balance of multitasking, while ‘doing’ and ‘delegating,’ with a track record of results and fulfilling commitments is expected. Grant writing and networking skills are a plus.
